Rangers refuse to comment on strip sale

Rangers have today refused to comment following reports on social media that the 2016/17 Rangers home strip would be on sale from tomorrow leaving supporters confused by whether the club is backing the launch. Unlike previous years there has been no formal announcement for the new kits and so far there’s been nothing from the club to inform them when, or even if, this season’s kits would be available to purchase.

DW Sports, owned by former JJB Sports founder Dave Whelan, have confirmed that they will be stocking it via Twitter and Greaves Sports are also believed to be taking delivery of it today. Coincidentally, Dave Whelan has been a vocal critic of Mike Ashley for a number of years; criticising his business practices and suitability to be involved in football.

The club remains tied to the retail joint venture with Sports Direct (Rangers Retail) last updated fans on the situation on July 11th but have been silent ever since. Notice was given by Rangers that they intended to terminate the deal and the club have also withdrawn the licence to Rangers Retail for use of their trademarks. When contacted by GTBFO earlier today a Rangers spokesperson refused to comment leaving fans unsure whether to buy or not.

Clear as mud.
