Rangers have secured their January transfer window targets already, according to David Weir, although he says one other player could be coming in - probably on loan.
Which means that today's latest link, to Watford's Juan Carlos Paredes, makes pretty much no sense at all. A few teams are reported to be interested, with Rangers one of them according to the Daily Record. But there's a few reasons why it's hard to see this getting off the ground.
Firstly, Paredes is a right-back, a position where we already have Lee Hodson in form, and James Tavernier out of it. Hardly a priority for upgrading compared to our lack of depth in defence and defensive midfield.
Secondly, the same article states that Watford are apparently looking for £2m - a figure we're unlikely to spend on anyone, least of all a 29 year-old right-back.
It's hard to see where this has come from but we'd be very surprised if there were any further developments on this one.
