As we first told you last week, Canadian midfielder Fraser Aird is set for a move to Championship Falkirk and Peter Houston hopes to have him signed in time for his side’s Scottish Cup clash with Morton on Saturday.

Houston refused to be drawn on the identity of his target in an interview with Falkirk TV but spoke again yesterday afternoon at his pre-match press conference.

“I’m trying to get a new face in in time for Saturday but I haven’t done anything at this time, but we’re working on it,” Houston said.

“Things can change at the snap of a finger, but it’s a player who I think could enhance the team."

According to a guy we spoke to on the train to Milngavie for yesterday’s U20 match the deal is close to happening and others with a bit more knowledge of the deal also confirmed it was imminent.

Aird joined Rangers in 2011 and has made 85 appearances, scoring 12 goals, before spending 2016 on loan with Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS.
