Barrie McKay has spoken for the first time in a while about speculation linking him with a move to the English leagues in the near future.
McKay has certainly harboured the ambition to do so in the recent past, and whether he still thinks that way, we're not too sure. However, after RB Leipzig's Oliver Burke tipped him for a big-money move down south in the wake of our recent friendly against them, McKay decided to speak out:
"It's obviously good for other people to pick up on how I played, and for him to say something like that is quite a good thing.
"But I'm happy here at Rangers, and I'm here to play for Rangers, so to talk about that stuff wouldn't be right. I'm playing for Rangers just now and that's my only concern."
So, not exactly giving away too much. This has been spun as "I want to stay at Rangers" by some outlets, although he's hardly come out singing the Sash ready to sign a contract extension.
We don't expect McKay to leave this window, but in the summer it's probably a real possibility. It's a shame he didn't just come out and say he wants to stay at Rangers, because as we all know, footballers never lie...
