Will Nicky Law leave Rangers as part of deal to bring Michael O'Halloran to Ibrox?

There's a late suggestion that the move to bring Michael O'Halloran to Ibrox will involve a loan for Nicky Law until the end of the season.

Nicky Law could move to St. Johnstone on loan for the rest of the season as part of the deal to sign Michael O'Halloran, according to Stephen McGowan, the chief football writer of the Scottish Daily Mail.

This comes as something of a surprise, since it would leave Rangers slightly short in midfield, but it looks like a real possibility.

Rangers' Transfer Deadline Day - Live coverage of transfers and rumours as they happen

Law has been mediocre all season, and regular readers of this blog will know we're not keen at all on him extending his stay at Ibrox any longer than he has to, although it does leave the question open as to whether we'll lack depth in midfield, particularly as it looked likely that Jordan Thompson would be heading out on loan.

Whether we'll sign anybody else is questionable, although of course there is the possibility of bringing Matt Crooks in early. We'll keep you posted on any updates and rumours as they happen before the end of the day.
