Bordeaux have begun to make their move to sign Alfredo Morelos, with Sky Sports News reporting that an initial bid of over £3.75m has been rejected by the club.
That offer would fall into the ‘derisory’ category were Morelos not Rangers’ only realistic option at centre forward heading into one or three crucial European qualifiers. With that in mind, they’ll probably need to double it - and then a wee bit more.
Morelos has started the season in fine form, and has had several excellent performances recently as he’s spearheaded the team which have got within touching distance of the Europa League group stages and picked up 4 points from 6 despite playing both opening matches with ten men.
Since our only other strikers are Umar Sadiq (last seen in the Irn Bru Cup) and Zak Rudden (an actual wean) then it seems unlikely Rangers will be entertaining bids at this point in the season.
If we have a very good replacement lined up then a very good offer may be enough later on. But for now, we need Morelos fit physically and mentally.
