Lee Wallace’s Rangers career appears to be over after he was left out of the squad for the Europa League.
The alleged defender was blamed for a ruckus in the aftermath of a 3-2 Old Firm loss last season, and has been suspended by the club since. Now it appears he’s finito, not being included on the list of players to play Shkupi.
Even Bruno Alves - who left the club today - managed to get onto the list, which you can see here. Note that the likes of Ross McCrorie and other home-grown youths who have been at the club for the required period aren’t required to be included on the list but will still be eligible.
It’s unlikely to be an injury issue either - Jordan Rossiter was also included in the squad. While Rangers can register players for later stages, there seems little reason to leave Wallace out now and most of those spaces will be taken up by other new signings yet to come.
The deadline for the final list is Thursday, when we can expect to see new signings Umar Sadiq and Lassana Coulibaly added - although it’s doubtful they’ll play having had so little time to work with the rest of the squad. There’s certainly no reason to leave Wallace out though, leaving the only conclusion that his career at Ibrox has come to an ignominious end.
