Rangers could make a summer move for Louis Moult, with the former Motherwell man struggling to make an impact at Preston North End, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.
Moult seemed a no-brainer signing for Rangers, but we opted not to make a move and instead let the player move south - something that appears to not be working out.
Moult may be English, but his calm, composed and technical style always seemed far better suited to the Scottish game than the more physical version played across the Tweed. There’s probably little risk that he won’t start banging them in should he move back over the border.
However, with Alfredo Morelos tied down for another year and Jason Cummings a seeming done deal, would he get in the side? Moult is pretty much a pure number nine like the two aforementioned strikers, and it will likely leave at least one of the trio struggling for minutes.
Perhaps we’re not sure about Cummings after his meek performance against Kilmarnock. Perhaps it’s paper speculation that’s unlikely to happen. But either way, it’s an interesting name to keep an eye on.
