Mark Warburton is in London talking to a transfer target, according to both Jim White and The Scottish Sun.
There's no suggestion at all of whom it might be, and the timing seems a little odd. Firstly, we have a very important cup game coming up at the weekend. Secondly, our chief scout, Frank McParland, is about to leave the club. And thirdly, Warburton is pretty likely to be out of the door behind him.
With all that going on, it seems a strange time to be making new signings. The board also haven't opened discussions with either Kenny Miller or Clint Hill over a new deal yet, and the reason for that is very likely to be that they're anticipating a potential change of manager and would like the new man to make the decision. So it's hard to see them giving the go-ahead over transfer moves.
Unless, of course, it's a cover story and something else is going on. We couldn't possibly speculate. But we'd be surprised if anything more came about from this.
