Warburton set for Nottingham Forest job?

After earlier reports Head of Recruitment Frank McParland was set to leave, bookies have made Mark Warburton second-favourite to take the reigns at EFL Championship strugglers Nottingham Forest. Forest are looking for a replacement for Frenchman Philippe Montanier and interim boss Gary Brazil (5/4) is the bookies favourite but Warburton is as short as 2/1 to take charge at the City Ground with the next candidates out at 6/1.

Warburton only signed a new Rangers deal in the summer but has come under increasing pressure after a poor first campaign back in the top flight. Reports have suggested certain members of the board are unhappy with the results delivered by the manager both on and off the pitch. With close ally McParland on the brink of leaving, Warburton might see an escape route with the Championship side as well as being closer to his family; who have remained down south throughout his time at Rangers.

Forest have already tried, and failed, to lure Nigel Clough and Gary Rowett to the City Ground but with Forest owner Fawaz Al Hawasi being more than a little trigger happy when it comes to managerial changes, replacing Montanier has been tougher than expected.
