Development Squad defender Aidan Wilson has been a consistent feature for the U20s side so far this season but, despite barely putting a foot out of place, has been overshadowed a little by higher-profile defensive colleagues like Ross McCrorie, David Bates and Myles Beerman.
The 17-year-old Scottish youth international is a no-frills central defender who has never looked out of place playing against senior pros and has come on leaps and bounds this term under Graeme Murty and his staff. Wilson’s development will have also been aided by playing alongside first team players like Danny Wilson for the U20s.
Away from Auchenhowie, Wilson was one of five Rangers players who were part of the Scotland U17 side at last summer’s European Championship; playing every minutes for Scot Gemmill’s side as they crashed out at the group stage.
Wilson is under contract at Ibrox until 2018 and will be hoping to continue impressing in the Development Squad and maybe find himself in contention for a place on the bench with the first team before the season ends.
