Mark Warburton has claimed that he has not, in fact, resigned from Rangers and was unaware of the club statement.
The news comes from the BBC's Chris McLaughlin, who may be a bit of a walloper, but apparently there's been a breakdown in communication or somebody's doing something silly. He tweeted: "Mark Warburton says he's unaware of #Rangers statement regarding his resignation. Says he hasn't resigned. Bizarre."
If we have tried to push this ahead without informing him then it's pretty poor, but it seems unlikely. We assume the situation will clarify itself in the coming hours or days, although Warburton will definitely not be manager on Sunday, and nor will Davie Weir or Frank McParland be present. Warburton did deny that anybody was about to leave in his press conference earlier, but that seemed to be standard practice for a manager who's about to get the chop.
We don't know if this is going to get ugly, but it's certainly getting confusing.
