How should Rangers line-up against Partick?

We look at how Pedro Caixinha’s side should start against Partick Thistle

Rangers face Partick Thistle on Friday night in the Scottish Premiership and Pedro Caixinha’s side could go top if they win by five or more goals.

After Saturday’s 4-1 win over Dundee, it’s unlikely Caixinha will make drastic changes to his side for the trip to Firhill although two changes would go down well with fans.

The goalkeeper and back four are starting to form a good understanding together and as they continue to play games together Wes Foderingham, James Tavernier, Bruno Alves, Fabio Cardoso and Lee Wallace should provide a solid back-line this season.

In midfield, the second-half substitution of Niko Kranjcar for Josh Windass saw the former Accrington score Rangers’ second goal before setting up Carlos Pena for the third.

Windass’ performance should see him start ahead of Kranjcar on the left-wing with Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans and Daniel Candeias all starting alongside him in midfield.

Candeias is starting to really find some form and the winger’s delivery is brilliant. Eduardo Herrera seems to be the type of forward who will love the kind of crosses Candeias whips into the opposition box and, alongside the clinical Alfredo Morelos, Herrera will hopefully start getting his name on the score sheet.

Herrera deserves a run of games to show what he is capable of and with Morelos scoring goals for fun just now, that means Kenny Miller dropping out of the starting XI. Miller could probably do with sitting out a game or two anyway and with Celtic visiting Ibrox in nine days, it could be just the time for a rested Miller to return and find form.
