Rangers could finally be set to land Jamie Walker after renewed talks with Hearts over a move.
The winger has been one of Pedro Caixinha's main targets this summer but the sides have so far failed to agree a few after a number of bids.
Reports today suggest Jason Holt could now be used as a makeweight with Rangers unwilling to meet the £1m fee Hearts are demanding for Walker.
Holt has struggled to get game time under Caixinha so far this season and a return to Tynecastle might be best for both parties.
With Walker's deal up at the end of the season, it's not clear whether any swap for Holt would be permanent or a season-long loan deal.
Rangers have already added Cardiff full-back Declan John to their squad today and, finally, getting a move for Walker would go a long way to meeting fans concerns over Caixinha's squad.
