Amid reports that Barrie McKay has been sent to train with Graeme Murty’s U20 squad, it looks as though former Rangers boss (and full-time snake) Mark Warburton could be set to be reunited with McKay at Nottingham Forest. McKay’s Ibrox deal expires next summer, and despite publicly stating his desire to stay, the winger has yet to put pen to paper on a new contract and is free to talk to clubs from January.
Warburton is a big fan of the winger, believing he was crucial to his success at Ibrox, and wants to add him to his Forest squad as they try to avoid a relegation battle this season in the English Championship.
If McKay was to be sold it would cause a massive split in opinion amongst Rangers fans as many believe he is the most naturally talented player at the club and selling him would drastically weaken Pedro Caixinha’s squad. McKay has struggled to impose himself on games under Caixinha in quite the same way he did under his predecessor but there’s no doubting he’s a talented player.
