After almost every former Rangers player with a coaching badge was linked with the ‘local assistant’ role Pedro Caixinha spoke of, another name has emerged as a potential addition after Kevin Thomson revealed he had met with the Rangers boss over taking a position within his backroom team.
Is Kevin Thomson set to be the new @RangersFC assistant?

He's held talks with Pedro Caixinha... #BTSFE https://t.co/TfYIr5vWiP
Speaking ahead of last night’s Dundee vs Aberdeen game, Thomson (working as a pundit for BT Sports) admitted he had been in to meet the Portuguese saying: "I’ve been in to see him and I’m humble to the fact he invited me in. We had a good chat and he’s a really impressive man and he’s got a clear idea of the vision he’d like for the club."
Thomson has taken the first steps in his coaching career in the last few years by launching his own football academy as well as being pegged for a role within the SFA coaching set-up before then-Performance Director quit the role. The former Rangers midfielder has impressed many with his contributions as a pundit on various platforms and, judging by the reaction on social media, would be better received by the fans than some of the other names in the frame.
