Rangers look set to miss out on at least one half of their mooted 'managerial dream team', as Ross Wilson is now unlikely to leave Southampton.
According to our sources, Ross Wilson had in fact already rejected the move before the weekend, but Rangers returned with an improved offer. It now seems like that hasn't been enough to convince him to move. The Daily Record/Sunday Mail are now reporting that he is 'highly unlikely' to leave Southampton.
Since it seems like the club have been briefing that Wilson is their first choice, it's a pretty poor state of affairs, and while we'd normally be the last to warn against hubris... it seems pretty poor.
Which means that the board will have to go for one of their other choices. That would most likely be Paul Mitchell, currently working his notice at Tottenham, although the board may decide to go for another option.
We'll give you any updates as we get them. There's also news to be had on Pedro Caixinha, so stay tuned for that too....
