Barrie McKay looks likely to be a Rangers player for the foreseeable future as the youngster opened talks over a new deal, according to the Scottish Sun.
The paper reported that positive talks began over a new deal, with McKay wanting to stay at Ibrox rather than leave in the summer as feared.
This is obviously excellent news, and while the Sun don't say it's a mere formality, you'd have to assume when our best player wants to stay we'll find a way to get the deal done.
McKay can be a frustrating player in terms of not racking up more goals and assists, but his technical ability, touch, vision and range of passing make him an outstanding player. Combined with his pace, ball control, balance and youth, it would've been a sickener to lose him on the cheap in summer. Thankfully, it appears we'll get to enjoy him for a while longer.
Now we just need to find nine other outfield players who can play at the same level...
