Well what a night this has been. Mark Warburton resigned along with Davie Weir and Frank McParland. Then they hadn’t. Then it turned out they had but had tried not to. Clear enough? Maybe not. So, we’ve rounded everything up so we can start getting an idea of just what’s going on at Ibrox.

It all started with a tweet:

Within minutes there was claim and counter claim as there were suggestions that the club’s media had been hacked and then came reports Warburton hadn’t resigned. The now ex-Rangers boss said he was unaware of the club’s statement.

Before long more detail was added when it emerged Warburton, Weir and McParland HAD been asked to be released from their deals earlier in the week to take up the Nottingham Forest job, with the club agreeing to let them go without compensation, before the City Ground role fell through or Warburton changed his mind and Warburton’s agent returned to Ibrox with his tail between his legs to try and withdraw the trio’s resignations.

The withdrawal was refused and, following a board meeting tonight, Warburton and his backroom team were no more. Further quotes from Warburton then emerged with the ex-Brentford boss describing the move as "scandalous".
