1PM Update: It has now emerged that an issue was found during Lescott’s medical. This, reportedly, led the club to pulling the plug on the move.
Joleon Lescott now won’t be a Rangers player.
After meeting manager Mark Warburton for talks earlier this week and having agreed a severance deal with Aston Villa, the former Man City & Everton defender has decided not to move north citing ‘family reasons’.
Last night, Aston Villa Chairman, Tony Xia revealed the club would be paying a portion of Lescott’a wage should he move to Glasgow however it looks as though he’ll be left to foot the whole bill unless they can offload the 34-year-old.
With Lescott deciding against signing for the Gers, Rangers may now shift their focus to Philippe Senderos who has been on trial with the club over the last week.
