Mark Warburton has been speaking to Sky Sports News after he agreed to sign a new deal at Rangers, and as well as mentioning how happy he was to be staying at Ibrox, he also talked about contracts and new signings.

Regarding the ongoing contract situation with Martyn Waghorn and James Tavernier, Warburton claimed that the media "had the wrong end of the story", that the players were "good guys" and that we'd "have to wait and see what happens." The two have been widely reported to have rejected contracts to remain at Ibrox, with suggestions of friction over the wage structure at the club after new arrivals like Joey Barton.

Warburton also spoke on our transfer targets, confirming that Frank McParland was "close" on two signings.

"We are looking at one or two more to come in. Frank and his team are working very hard. We are close, we hope, on those two players. It was great to see Lee Hodson join. Obviously, Niko and Clint are already in.

"We are in good shape but we need to add one or two more and we will be OK. Attacking-wise and probably another defender to come in as well. Lee Hodson comes in and provides cover to the two full-backs, and Clint comes in alongside Rob Kiernan and Danny Wilson. But I think four centre-halves would be ideal for us."

So, there you have it. We speculated and took a look at the odds on who the striker might be yesterday, which you can read here. In the meantime, we'll have to wait patiently.
