As Mark Warburton continues his preparation for the new season, former Charlton, QPR, Milan and Newcastle defender Oguchi Onyewu has joined up with Rangers' training camp in the USA.
Onyewu, has represented his country 69 times at senior level; including at two World Cups, was most recently with Charlton after a career which has seen him play in France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy and The Netherlands. At 34 Onyewu is in the latter stage of his career but is another who, like Clint Hill, will bring experience to a defence which lacked in both numbers and experience. Despite being American he wouldn't require a work permit as he holds a Belgian passport.
One concern however would be the lack of playing time in recent months. Since leaving Charlton last summer Onyewu has failed to find a club and last played a competitive game in May 2015. After leaving Charlton he did go on trial with MLS side New York City but failed to earn a contract.
