Rangers' contract offer to Joey Barton will be for three years, according to the Daily Record.
Most reports over the move suggested a two-year deal would be likely, but it seems that Mark Warburton could be prepared to go one further in pursuit of his key man.
The wisdom of giving an expensive 33 year-old a long term deal is clearly open to question, but if that's what it takes, it could still be a superb signing. Barton would surely be the best midfielder in the league and would have a huge impact on the team.
Meanwhile Sean Dyche, the Burnley boss, spoke about the move on Goals on Sunday, merely saying "Good luck to Rangers. It shows the clout they have. He's not cheap."
So, this is still looking very likely. The move is unlikely to go ahead today, however, according to those following things, but hopefully we can get it wrapped up early next week.
