Rangers will make a January loan bid for a player Mark Warburton hopes will be able to turn around our fortunes in the league, according to Friday's papers.

Warburton said that the player, who was "outstanding" was being chased by other clubs but that he had hopes that the "dynamic, goalscoring midfielder" would be joining. However, he also added that we would lose him if "we showed our hand."

So, step forward the Daily Mail, who are loudly proclaiming that the player in question is one Joao Teixeira, the Portuguese youngster playing for FC Porto.

Wait a second - Porto? A club in Europe? A club that isn't Watford? A club that isn't- hold on a second.

Ah, Teixeira was on loan at Brentford. From Frank McParland's Liverpool.

Still, it looks like it could be a good signing still, and this is scouting in other countries, of a sort. We'll keep you posted on any future updates.
