It's safe to say that when the debate over your star summer signing goes from "what role should we play him in?" to "should he be starting?" to "should he be sacked from the club?" to "how much should we pay to get rid of him?" that things have not gone well. Thus, the tedious Joey Barton saga continues today, with the Huyton Helmet reportedly meeting with club officials on Thursday to sort out what will happen.
The word in the press appears to be that Barton has no hope of playing for us ever again, and that he's going to resist any attempts to sack him and tear up his contract without compensation. However, the Daily Record do offer us this pleasant silver lining:
Which sounds pleasant enough. If anybody's willing to take him off our hands, and Barton is prepared to go, then we won't have to pay anything and we'll get the waster off our wage bill.
All this of course, comes as a needless distraction ahead of tonight's game against St. Johnstone. Hopefully this can be resolved as cheaply as possible.
