Alfredo Morelos was recently interviewed by a news network back in his native Colombia, and spoke about the likelihood of him moving in the summer, as well as life in Glasgow.
Many people would be betting on Premier League standings and interest for the Colombian forward in the summer, but Morelos revealed there was interest from around Europe in January.
“In winter there were many proposals, from Italy, Spain, France and England” said Morelos. “But the coach told me he wanted me here, so I stayed. In the summer, there are more chances to go out.”
Morelos said he enjoyed life in Scotland’s biggest city, but was used to getting attention on the street from both halves of the Old Firm. “[Rangers fans] are very passionate... in the end I ended up taking the pictures for the love they have for me and because they deserve it. But there are also fans of Celtic, so because of that, I do not go out much.”
“[Celtic fans] grab me wanting to make videos and telling me bad things. I don’t pay attention to them. I am aware that I am a public figure, so I have to handle that topic in the best way. I’m still doing what I’m doing.”
Morelos also revealed that Steven Gerrard had been helping him with his temperament over the season, saying he had coached him to improve his “confidence and tranquility”.
“He tells me to be very patient, that everything will arrive in due course. He always wants me to play inside the area, focused and attentive to the balls that come from the side.”
“He loves me very much. He has given me great support, I am very happy to have him as coach, we know he is a great legend worldwide and I am learning many things about him. I stayed because he asked me, my idea is to continue growing as a player.”
Overall, it would still be a surprise if Morelos was at Ibrox at the end of the transfer window. Hopefully we can enjoy him after his arrival at the club and see him lift a trophy while he’s still here.
