Steven Gerrard has recalled Ryan Hardie to Rangers from his loan spell at Livingston.

The young striker has scored an impressive five goals in seven appearances this season, and seemed to be regularly featuring in the first team after returning from injury.

But despite the arrival of Jermain Defoe, and the presence of Kyle Lafferty also offering options up front alongside Alfredo Morelos, it seems Gerrard thinks Hardie could have a part to play.

Some fans had been hoping that Greg Docherty, who has excelled on loan at Shrewsbury. might also be brought back.

But there’s been no news on that front, with Steven Davis adding to the considerable number of midfielders in the Rangers squad, with Glen Kamara perhaps even set to come in this month too.

Combined with a link to Kevin McDonald emerging, it looks like Hardie will be the only one to return to Ibrox this January.
