Rangers are set to finalise a deal for Brighton defender Connor Goldson, with the centre-back soon to head to Glasgow for a medical, according to various sources in the mainstream media and well-connected Rangers fans.
Rangers have been pursuing the deal for some time, and it seems like around £3m will be enough to get things over the line.
Goldson is third choice at Brighton, but many of their fans are disappointed to see him leave. A short summation:
5 years from now, this Connor Goldson to Rangers deal for £3.5m will be one of the biggest bargains around. Remember this tweet— GK (@GeorgeKane5) June 5, 2018
@RangersFC fans thinking they are paying over the odds for Goldson. Easily worth more than 3.5m.Honestly a class defender and personally from #bhafc prospective Would play him over Duffy. One hell of a player, will be back in prem one day. Bargain for #rangers #bhafc— Lee Walker-Smith (@lee01smith) June 5, 2018
So, hopefully that proves to be accurate. Centre-back is by far the main area Rangers need to upgrade in this window, and it seems that either Steven Gerrard or Mark Allen have identified Goldson as their primary target there.
Things have been relatively quiet with regards to other rumours, but we’re highly likely to see that blow up in the coming weeks. There’s also the small matter of a massive clearout of our own squad, too. Exciting times ahead...
P.S. Conor AND Declan in the back four? Maybe time to give yer da a call and check on him.
