Declan John has caught the eye of many Wales supporters with his fine performances in their two recent friendlies, against China and Uruguay.
Rangers signed the left-back from Cardiff City in January, and while he initially looked bold but raw, his performances have continued to improve and he looks like he could well be the long-term solution to the left back role.
Wales boss Ryan Giggs said that John was “seeing the benefits of playing week in, week out because you can’t beat playing competitive first team games.”
”You get in a rhythm and that’s part of the reason why I started a lot of the players because they were in that rhythm of playing regularly.”
Hopefully John continues to improve - Lee Wallace is returning to fitness, but there’s certainly no reason to suggest that he should be taking the place of the young Welshman at left back just yet.
