Rangers defender Fabio Cardoso was unhappy with his side’s defensive mistakes in the 2-2 draw with Partick Thistle and believes his side deserved to win.
The Gers had to come back from 2-1 down to draw at Firhill and Cardoso admitted defensive mistakes cost his side dearly, telling RangersTV: “It was a hard game. We can’t commit mistakes like this because we scored two goals and with two goals we should be winning the game.
“We committed a lot of defensive mistakes we can’t. We have to improve and do better on Tuesday here.
The two sides meet again on Tuesday night in the quarter-final of the League Cup and Cardoso insists his team are better than they showed at Firhill on Friday night. The 23-year-old defender wants to face the Jags again as soon as possible so he can help his team improve, adding: “For us, the game could be tomorrow. We have to play fast to improve and win. We deserved to win and we are more than we showed tonight.”
Cardoso has been ever-present in the league so far for Pedro Caixinha’s side as they try and improve on last season’s third-place finish.
The young defender has had a reasonable start to his Ibrox career and is getting to grips with the Scottish game more every week.
With Celtic the visitors at Ibrox next weekend, Cardoso and Alves will get the toughest test they’ll face season so a good performance could go a long way to helping Cardoso improve.
