Rob Kiernan look to be the next player out the door at Ibrox following Pedro Caixinha’s summer rebuild as he appears to be set to rejoin former club Southend United. The defender, who has spent two seasons at Rangers, has fallen out of favour under Caixinha and could complete a move in the next few days. It’s not expected Rangers will receive any fee for the defender who joined from Wigan Athletic.
Kiernan has previously spent time on loan at Southend and manager Phil Brown wants him in ahead of their opening League One game with Blackburn Rovers this weekend, saying: We’re very close with the defender now and hopefully we’ll have something to announce today. All my Christmasses have come together for that one.”
Pedro Caixinha also suggested a move is imminent at his press conference, saying: “Rob Kiernan's situation is maybe about to be resolved.”
The 26-year-old has made 76 appearances for Rangers and scored once.
