Rangers Colts to face Dumbarton in IRNBRU Cup

Jay Mansfield

Graeme Murty’s Colt side have been drawn to face Dumbarton away from home in the first round of this season’s IRNBRU Cup.

The Colts will be looking to improve on last year’s campaign where they reached the second round before falling to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Stenhousemuir. This year’s IRNBRU Cup also features an expanded number of teams with two teams from the League of Ireland added to the two each from Northern Irish Football League and Welsh Premier Division.

With the U20s taking a year out from the Development League in favour of challenging themselves against a host of European sides, as well as regular games against senior SPFL sides, the IRNBRU Cup will give the Academy staff a good opportunity to see where the players are in their development in a senior competition.

Ties are scheduled for August 15th or August 16th.
