After spending a number of weeks searching for a ‘number 3’ it looks like Pedro Caixinha has finally found his man; former Rangers forward Jonatan Johansson.

The Finn, who currently assists Finland’s national team boss Markku Kanerva, has been involved in coaching in Scotland for a number of years through Academy posts at Greenock Morton and Motherwell as well as having lived in Scotland since retiring from playing in late 2011.

Johansson was interviewed along with former ‘Gers Kevin Thomson, Alex Rae, Barry Ferguson, Peter Lovenkrands and John Brown and appears to have impressed Caixinha enough to have been offered the role which Graeme Murty has been filling in recent weeks.

During his three-year stay at Ibrox, JJ made 71 appearances for the club, scoring 25 times, and has been a regular on RangersTV in recent months.
