Rangers DoF target leaves club; could he be Ibrox bound?

Spurs’ Paul Mitchell has notice cut short to allow him to leave early

With Rangers’ main target for the Director of Football, Southampton’s Ross Wilson, dragging his heels and looking ever more likely to remain at St. Mary’s another has today left his club potentially clearing the path for an Ibrox appointment. Spurs’ Head of Recruitment has left White Hart Lane with immediate effect after originally being held to his contractual notice period which was supposed to end in June 2017.

Mitchell’s recruitment record at Spurs has been mixed; Toby Alderweireld, Kieran Trippier, Son Heung-min and Victor Wanyama can all be considered successes but others, like Vincent Janssen have struggled to make any impact in Mauro Pochettino’s side.

Mitchell, along with Wilson, was interviewed by Rangers a few weeks ago and it looks as though they could now move for him with Wilson set to stay on the south coast. Mitchell could be joined in Govan by Pedro Caixinha in the next few days with the Portuguese expected in Glasgow later this week.
