As the hunt continues for Rangers’ new management team, it looks as though Ross Wilson won't be taking up the newly-created Director of Football post at Ibrox.
After impressing at an interview with Stewart Robertson, Andrew Dickson and Graeme Park the Southampton Head of Recruitment and Scouting was offered the position a few weeks ago but has taken him time to think things over before giving the Rangers board a decision.
The club had been hoping to make an announcement today and, while Wilson hasn't yet turned down the role, it seems increasingly likely that the 34-year-old will remain at St. Mary’s.
If Wilson does decide to stay on the South Coast, Rangers will move for Spurs’ Head of Recruitment Paul Mitchell to spearhead the club’s revamp of the football department.
Al-Gharafa’s Portuguese manager Pedro Caixinha remains the favourite to take over as manager/head coach and could be in place for next weekend’s visit to Celtic Park.
