Reports this morning suggest that 15-year-old midfielder Billy Gilmour has agreed to a move to Chelsea for a fee believed to be around £500k. The youngster, who has been a standout for the U20s side this season is tipped for the very top and many Rangers fans had hoped he would pledge his future to Rangers ahead of his sixteenth birthday in June.
Gilmour was involved in the with the first team squad on a number of occasions under Graeme Murty as the club tried to convince him his future lay at Ibrox however it seems the lure of working with world class talent like Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and Thibault Courtois has been too strong for him to turn down.
The move won't be completed until the summer but, if the reports are true, we wish him all the very best at Chelsea and hope he can go on and fulfil his unquestionable potential south of the border.
As yet there’s no comment from either Rangers or Chelsea.
