With speculation running wild over who will be the next Rangers boss (short or long term) and Alex McLeish has added some fuel to the fire by telling Sky Sports he would be open to a return to the Ibrox manager’s job he left in 2016.

McLeish said "There is a lot of speculation but at the moment there is nothing I can update you on. It looks more than a coincidence I am here (Ibrox) but it is just a coincidence.

"I am a Rangers man and when you get asked to come to a club like this it’s hard to turn that down. If they wanted to speak to me, I can only take it from there. I need to wait and see if Rangers want to talk to me first."

The former Scotland, Birmingham and Aston Villa boss is the current bookies favourite to succeed Mark Warburton and could be in place as early as next week with reports claiming he will be assisted by former Rangers midfielder Alex Rae.
