Rangers have signed defender Aidan Wilson to an extended contract that keeps the 18-year-old at Ibrox until 2020.
Wilson was a stand-out for Graeme Murty’s Under-20’s last season and made his first-team debut against Aberdeen in May.
The defender only signed a new deal a few months ago but has agreed to a one-year extension after moving up into the first-team squad.
“I was delighted to sign, it was back and forth but I was so pleased to get the deal done and move forward,” Wilson said, speaking to RangersTV.
“I obviously played a couple of games last season and the club want to try and keep me for a longer period of time which I was more than happy with. I am happy to be playing at the club even longer.
“When Rangers come to you and offer you another year not many players would turn that down. I am really looking forward to my future at the club and I just have to keep working hard.
The youngster was one of a number of promising young players to be handed their debut by Pedro Caixinha with Myles Beerman, Jamie Barjonas, Kyle Bradley and Ross McCrorie all making their first appearances.
McCrorie and Barjonas were both involved in the 3-1 win over Hearts at the weekend and Wilson admits he needs to wait for his opportunity with the likes of McCrorie, Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso ahead of him, telling RangersTV: “I think we have some great centre-halves ahead of me, there is a lot of experience and youth in there but I just have to bide my time and hope the manager puts his trust in me.
“Even last season there was faith shown in the young boys with Myles Beerman, Jamie Barjonas, myself and even Ross McCrorie playing this season.”
