After his high-profile bust up with Andy Halliday last week, which led to him being banished from the training ground, Joey Barton has been suspended by Rangers for THREE weeks.
Barton, who was initially sent away last week, met with Mark Warburton, Paul Murray and Andrew Dickson this morning at Ibrox where the midfielder was informed of his suspension.
In a statement issued by the club, the reason given for the ban was “time and space is required for both the club and the player to assess all that has happened.”
Having already missed out on the 0-0 draw with Ross County, Barton will now miss the Betfred Cup clash with QOTS at Ibrox, this weekend’s trip to Pittodrie and the home fixture with Partick Thistle.
