Hot on the heels of the arrival of Philippe Senderos on a week-long trial at Auchenhowie reports today are linking Rangers with a move for another central defender, this time former England defender Joleon Lescott.
Lescott, who currently plays for Championship side Aston Villa, has been told he has no future at Villa Park under new manager Roberto di Matteo and is free to find a new club. The 34-year-old played for Everton, Man City and West Brom and picked up 26 England caps before moving to Villa last summer.
There is rumoured to be interest in Lescott from Leeds United although the opportunity to come to Rangers and compete for trophies could sway things in Rangers favour. The defender is the latest in a string of defensive names linked with a move to Ibrox including Oguchi Onweyu, Adrian Mariappa and Senderos.
