Rangers could be close to adding some reinforcement to their squad and may have two new players signed before Motherwell visit Ibrox this weekend.
Swiss defender Philippe Senderos is training with Mark Warburton’s squad in a bid to secure a contract. The former Arsenal, Valencia and A.C Milan defender is available on a free after his contract at Swiss club Grassshoppers expired. Senderos was linked with a move to Ibrox two weeks ago before Mark Warburton rubbished the claims. Warburton has spoke of his desire to add a new centre-back to his ranks and will take a look at Senderos before deciding whether to offer him a deal or not.
Another new signing who could be on his way to Ibrox is Preston striker Joe Garner. Reports over the weekend suggest that Garner is top of Warburton’s shopping list although Preston boss Simon Grayson has said he doesn’t want to let him go. Garner started for Preston on Saturday.
Grayson confirmed this morning that Rangers have made an offer for Garner but said that a decision hadn’t been taken over whether to accept it. He said: “We have had a bid from Rangers but we haven’t accepted or declined it at this moment
“We will be speaking to Joe to get an opinion on what he wants to do and try to get it concluded one way or another.
“That is not to say we have to sell, sometimes you have to give the player the opportunity to see what he wants to do.
“There are talks going on between Joe, myself and representatives but ultimately we are in a position where we don’t have to sell.”
