The SPFL have, finally, announced the fixtures for the group stage of the re-modelled and re-branded League Cup. Known now as the Betfred Cup and featuring a return of a group stage, Rangers will begin their campaign away to Premiership side Motherwell on July 16th. Last time Rangers visited Fir Park it ended in scenes which would likely be described as "excuberance" by Hibs Chairman Rod Petrie.
Following the trip to Motherwell, Annan Athletic visit Ibrox on July 19th before a televised trip to face East Stirling on Friday July 22nd. Mark Warburton's side will then complete their fixtures with another televised game, this time facing Stranraer at Ibrox on Monday July 25th.
Games finishing in a draw will go to a penalty shootout with the winners receiving a bonus point and the 8 group winners will be joined by the 4 best runners up in progressing to the last 16.
