Rangers defeated a seemingly very strong Tottenham Hotspur side 4-3 in a behind-closed-doors friendly this afternoon, winning what will become known as the inaugural Alan Hutton memorial cup (RIP*).

It's not known exactly how strong the Spurs side was, but Deli Alli certainly featured, with strong suggestions that Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen were also involved.

***UPDATE: It appears somebody was telling fibs over this one. It was essentially Spurs' reserves, rather than such a strong side, with Grant Ward the most senior player.***

Rangers weren't too much changed, although Dean Shiels started and got a goal, along with Martyn Waghorn, who is getting himself into shape for the cup final. Nicky Clark and James Tavernier also got in on the action, with Alli scoring one of the goals for Spurs.

So, all in all, it sounds like decent preparation for the cup final, even if it was a bit of a kickabout. Furthermore, with Hibs only managing to draw 2-2 with Falkirk at home in their relegation playoff, we might end up facing a team who are utterly demoralised and in turmoil on and off the pitch with half their players wanting to leave should they fail to prevail in the second leg.

Oh, and even if they do,they'll still be Hibs. So things are looking dandy.

In other news, Rangers have also been linked with a transfer move for Alex Pritchard, which you can find more about here.

*See you tomorrow when you inexplicably get in the Scotland squad again.
