Rangers beat Celtic on penalties (2-2 AET): Final score, match report and reaction

Rangers are into the Scottish Cup final after they put Celtic to the sword on penalties after a breathless,end-to-end encounter at Hampden Park.

Rangers win was made all the sweeter by the fact it was one of the great Old Firm clashes, although Barrie McKay's wonderstrike was worthy of winning any game. Kenny Miller had put Rangers in front in a barnstorming first half which Mark Warburton's men dominated entirely, but Celtic improved after the break and soon drew level. A nervy end to normal time followed, and Barrie McKay scored one of the great Old Firm goals to put Rangers back in front. But Celtic dragged themselves back into the game through Tom Rogic just after the second half of extra time, and penalties followed.

It was a nervy shootout. As Celtic came from behind twice in the game, Rangers did in the shootout. Missed penalties from James Tavernier and Nicky Clark were immediately followed by Callum McGregor and Scott Brown respectively. Gedion Zelalem stepped up, worryingly, but coolly stuck his penalty away, as did Nicky Law, before Tom Rogic turned from hero to villain with a shocking penalty ballooned over the bar.
