Martyn Waghorn injury: Rangers forward ruled out for 6-8 weeks

Martyn Waghorn's injury will keep him out of action for Rangers for 6-8 weeks, according to Sky Sports' Jim White.

Martyn Waghorn's injury will leave him absent from the Rangers first-team for 6-8 weeks, according to Sky Sports' Jim White.

It's not as bad as it might have been, but it's still a serious blow to Rangers, particularly in the upcoming Scottish Cup clash with Dundee, where two of our other forward options in Billy King and Michael O'Halloran won't be available.

Perhaps it's something of a surprise, therefore, that wee Ryan Hardie was allowed out on loan for almost the whole period Waghorn will be unavailable. We should have plenty of cover for the league campaign, but this could seriously derail our efforts in the cup, with only really Nicky Clark and Harry Forrester available as alternatives in the frontline. For the weekend match against Queen of the South, we'd probably expect to see Kenny Miller and Michael O'Halloran partner Barrie McKay in the front three, but we'll see what happens.

Nonetheless, we wish him well, and hope he can get back up to full fitness as soon as possible.
