Rangers' bid for Brentford star looking like a done deal?

Rangers have been linked to Jota for a while, but it's looking increasingly likely a deal could be done.

Mind the 'mystery midfield signing'? A couple of weeks ago, Mark Warburton was telling the press about his desire to sign a midfielder in January, on a loan to buy deal. He mentioned that he was playing in Europe, was dynamic and goalscoring, and that was about all we had to go on.

A few papers differed on their opinion on who it was, with Diego Fabbrini, Jota, Jon Toral and others mentioned. The Daily Record are not only sticking with the fact that it's Jota, but say that he'll be recalled from Eibar to Brentford, in order to join Rangers.

That story's now been backed up by the Express, who have been pretty decent on Rangers news recently. They are posting mostly the same quotes from Eibar about how he might be allowed to leave, so whether they've corroborated it or merely repeated it is up for debate. But the noise is growing, regardless.

The news seems to have caused some consteration among Brentford fans, who rated him highly before he departed to Spain for personal reasons. Understandably, coming back and then heading straight off to Glasgow might look quite strange. On the other hand, they're a diddy team and we're the mighty Rangers, so who cares, eh.
