Could Arsenal midfielder be Rangers target, as reports cast doubt on Teixeira link?

Reports disagree on whether or not Joao Teixeira is Mark Warburton's target or not. One alternative springs to mind

Rangers were believed to be pursuing a transfer move for Joao Teixeira on loan last night, according to the Daily Mail, after Mark Warburton spoke about getting in a mystery young midfielder. But according to the Daily Record, they're wrong - we're after someone completely different.

Unfortunately, the Record don't mention who the alternative target is, so it's time to open up the Big Book Of Players Who Have Played For Watford Or Brentford and see who fits Warburton's description of a 'dynamic', 'goalscoring' midfielder.

Unless we're really being spoiled and signing someone who hasn't played for Warburton before, then we'd probably suggest that the midfielder could well be Arsenal's Jon Toral. A young Spanish attacking midfielder who has two fine seasons on loan in the Championship under his belt, he made another loan switch to Granada this season but hasn't been able to do much there.

Such a move would require him to be recalled first, of course, so we might get an early indication as to whether this is the case. Or it could be somebody completely different. We'll have to wait and see.
