Chelsea are believed to have launched a £500,000 bid to steal Billy Gilmour from Rangers. The Premier League side have built an army of youth players in the hope at least some develop into first team players at Stamford Bridge or can be sold at profit.
Gilmour has only just broken into the U20 side at Ibrox and, according to ESPNFC, Chelsea have jumped to the head of a queue featuring Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Man City.
Gilmour’s current Ibrox deal ends at the end of the season but the Ibrox hierarchy will be keen to tie him down to a long-term deal and secure one of the brightest prospects to come through at Auchenhowie.
