In the least shocking bit of news this week, Rangers have confirmed the termination of Joey Barton’s contract with immediate effect.

Barton, who only moved north in July, hadn’t been seen at the club since being signed off with stress last week. The ex-Burnley midfielder is believed to have walked away with up to £250,000 after his suspension for an altercation with manager Mark Warburton and Andy Halliday.
With Barton officially gone, and Niko Kranjcar out for the rest of the season, reports have linked the Gers with former West Ham midfielder Diego Poyet as they look to build on a lackluster start to the league campaign.
