Fraser Aird will join Vancouver Whitecaps on loan until the end of the MLS season in October, the club have confirmed.

Aird has struggled to find a spot in the squad at Rangers this season, despite moving from his position on the wing to right-back, and Mark Warburton has clearly decided that he's prepared to do without the Canadian, who was a regular feature in the squad under Ally McCoist. The deal also includes an option for the MLS club to buy the player outright.

We reported this news a few days ago, and also spoke to SB Nation's Whitecaps blog, Eighty Six Forever, about the player.

This seems like a good move for Aird, although it does leave us even shorter of defensive cover. We do still have Ryan Sinnamon, however, who might stay around the squad in the event of James Tavernier and Dominic Ball both being absent. As for any further incoming transfers, it's all gone a bit quiet, but we wouldn't rule anything out. As always, any updates will be posted on our Rangers Transfer News hub.
